Sustainable Finance

The sustainable finance agenda is focused on developing a financial system which takes into account environmental, social and governance considerations in how it operates, and in the products and services it offers to consumers and investors.

Overview

AFME’s sustainable finance division is committed to supporting members throughout the transition of the economy to meet sustainability objectives. AFME supports the goals of mobilising capital in support of these objectives and the development of sustainable finance with a focus on the role of banks and capital markets.

We are highly engaged on the development of the policy and regulatory framework for sustainable finance in the EU and UK, and at global level through the Global Financial Markets Association (GFMA).

AFME works with members, policymakers and other stakeholders on a wide range of important priorities including sustainability disclosures, taxonomies, sustainable financing products such as green bonds, loans and green securitisation, sustainability due diligence and carbon markets. We also work with colleagues in our Capital and Risk Management division on climate and environmental risk management and stress testing.

AFME has established a Sustainable Finance Steering Committee that meets regularly to address developments and guide AFME’s work on sustainable finance. This is supported by a number of working groups.
