Equity Market Structure
Overview
AFME’s Equities Division engages on issues covering the future of the European equity market structure. In May 2021, AFME commissioned the report “
The landscape for European equity trading and liquidity
” which analysed market share across different execution platforms and emphasised the importance of using accurate data when assessing equity market structure.
AFME also responded to the HMT consultation on the Wholesale Markets Review which raises important issues regarding UK equity market structure. We continue to engage with the European Commission on its legislative proposal relating to transparency and market structure changed centred and the consolidated tape – both areas where AFME has been a thought leader.
